Google Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic, currently as a platform inside the Google Marketing Platform brand. (Source: Wikipedia)
If you have a website and you want to check on the traffic then you can setup Google Analytics (GA). You can track website traffic, pages per session, bounce rate and many others along with the information of the source of the traffic.
You can also integrate your Google ads campaign so it will be easier for you to track your conversion.
So here I will be guiding you with the steps on how to setup Google Analytics. Or you can also download the PDF file below.
If you are having issues with the download please let us know.
Step 1 – Google Analytics Setup
Just type in “analytics” on your search bar and click on the first result that would come up. Or you can go directly to analytics.google.com.
This is the page that would come up after doing step 1.
So the next step is to click on the “set up for free” blue button on the middle part of the page.
Step 3 – Account Setup
Just fill out the account details by putting in the account name.
Under the account data sharing settings it’s basically your option if you would like to put a check mark on the options.
At the bottom of this page you will have to click on “next” and it will redirect you to the property setup.
Step 4 – Property Setup
Fill out the property name, time zone and the currency and then click on next.
Step 5 – About your Business
Select the industry category, make sure that it will be associated to the type of business you have. Choose your business size as well.
Just check all that apply on the options on how do you intend to use GA with your business. And then click on “create”.
Put a check mark on both the terms of service and the Google Measurement Controller-Controller Data Protection Terms.
Then click on “I accept”.
In this setup it’s basically your option if you would like to receive emails regarding updates from Google. So you can put a check mark if you want to and then click on “save”.
Now we are on setting up the data stream. So you have to choose the platform and since we are setting up web then just select “Web”.
Type in the website URL that you would like to setup on Google Analytics.
For the stream name you can put in any name and I suggest to name it based on your site so it would be easier for you to identify.
Then click on “create stream”.
You are done with setting up Google Analytics. Just take note of the measurement ID because you will be needing that if you will have to link Google Analytics to Google Tag Manager.
